1. Scope

These terms govern use of the website Runners Commons (“the service”), operated by the Runners Commons team (“we”). By using the service you are taken to have agreed to them.

2. What the service provides

The service provides information about running gear, marathon races, and athletics tracks and other places to train that are open to individual runners.

3. Accuracy of the information

We check what we publish against official sources where we can, but we do not warrant that it is accurate, complete or current.

Race dates, entry periods and field limits, and venue opening schedules, fees and access conditions in particular are subject to change. Always confirm these on the official site for the race or venue. The service deliberately does not try to hold fast-changing details, and links out to the official source instead.

Gear specifications are based on manufacturer figures and may differ from the product you receive.

4. Prohibited conduct

• Anything unlawful or contrary to public order and morals
• Infringing the intellectual property, reputation, privacy or other rights of us or of third parties
• Interfering with the operation of the service, unauthorised access, or excessive automated collection such as scraping
• Posting information known to be false
• Deliberately manipulating ratings
• Posting for advertising or promotional purposes, unless we have agreed to it

5. Content you post

The service intends to offer user-submitted reviews in future. This clause applies from the point that feature becomes available.

You keep copyright in what you post. You grant us permission to use it as far as is needed to operate and promote the service.

We do not remove a review merely because it is negative. Staying neutral is the premise the service rests on. We may correct clear factual errors, such as an incorrect specification.

Posts that breach clause 4, or that we judge inappropriate for the service, may be hidden or deleted without notice.

6. Affiliate programmes

The service takes part in affiliate programmes, and we may receive a commission when a product is bought through a link we publish.

Pages carrying affiliate links say so on the page. Whether a commission is available does not affect what we publish or how it is rated.

7. Intellectual property

Rights in the text, design and database of the service belong to us or to the respective rights holders. Reproduction or republication beyond the scope of quotation is not permitted without permission.

8. Limitation of liability

We are not liable for loss arising from your use of the service, except where we have acted with intent or gross negligence.

We are not responsible for the content of external sites you reach from the service, or for transactions made on them.

Decisions about which gear to buy or which race to enter are yours to make.

9. Changes to, or suspension of, the service

We may change the service, or suspend or discontinue it, without prior notice.

10. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. Revised terms take effect once published on the service.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Japanese law. the Tokyo District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance over any dispute relating to the service.
