Runners Commons helps runners find gear, races and places to train.
What you can do here
- Find gear: compare running shoes, and also apparel, socks, GPS watches and nutrition, by specification
- Find a race: browse marathons by date and course profile, with typical race-day weather for the same date in past years
- Find a place to train: athletics tracks around Japan that are open to individual runners
Why finish time matters in a review
The same shoe reads differently to a sub-3 runner and to someone finishing in five hours. A shoe that fast runners rate highly is not necessarily the shoe for you.
This site aims to show the reviewer’s finish time, foot shape and monthly volume alongside the review, so you can filter down to people who run like you.

Where the information comes from
- Races: dates are confirmed on each event’s official site before publication. The descriptions are written here from a runner’s point of view, not copied from the organiser
- Training venues: only facilities whose official website we could confirm are listed
- Weather: compiled from observation records published by the Japan Meteorological Agency
- Gear specifications: based on figures published by the manufacturer
What we deliberately do not hold
We do not store venue opening schedules, availability, or the current entry status of a race. Those change week to week — sometimes on the day — and holding them here would guarantee stale information and wasted journeys.
Instead, every listing links to the official site. Check there for anything current.
On staying neutral
Reviews are not removed for being negative. The moment ratings are bent to keep a manufacturer happy, this site stops being worth reading.
The operator does not post reviews. Ratings come from runners who actually used the product.
The site carries affiliate links, but whether a commission is available does not affect what is published or how it is rated. Pages with such links say so.
